Story Wizard - Creative Writing Software for Kids

The best way of describing a product honestly is to let a professional software reviewer give you their opinion. The following review appeared in Computer Shopper, and was awarded the "Best Budget Buy Award" in September 2005."Reading is fun but writing is even more fun because you can invent everything!" Story Wizard provides a stimulating environment in which to write stories, including a full dictionary and thesaurus as well as an automatic spellchecker, and there's help at hand when users try to decide where to start or what to write next. It even helps with fictitious names, offering a billion name combinations for convincing characters, and has a place name database covering the whole world.Although the software doesn't write the words for you, its templates provide structure and guidance. To start you choose a type of story and give it a working title. You also need to decide on its size: short, with three phases, beginning middle and end; medium, with six episodes giving scope for development; or long, with 12 chapters.Story Wizard then focuses on characters, encouraging users to think about the role they play in the story and about their defining characteristics. It also pays attention to location and themes; indeed, to all the ingredients of a well-crafted story. One of its helpful features is a link to the Microsoft speech engine to read aloud what has been written on the screen, although to use this feature you need Windows XP. Finally, when you want to publish your work it provides facilities to design the front cover.Story Wizard is motivating and fun and earns a Best Budget Buy award. It is ideal for home users but also deserves a place in the classroom." Janet Swift.Story Wizard is also supplied to the schools system in the United Kingdom, where it is considered a core curriculum title relevant to teaching creative writing for ages 9-16.
Customer Review: Cool For Kids
This program has really delighted my 12 year old, and I have also used it, and I've enjoyed it too! It is so easy to use, and just engages you in writing so quickly. I think the parts that my daughter likes most are the diary (which she locks with a password) developing characters with the wizard and the fact that she can quickly write a short story and print it out with its own cover. I think it is a neat program, and I particularly like the way it keeps her occupied, in something that is quite constructive.

Sometime back, a friend of mine had a problem when he tried to update a graphics package on his laptop. He actually wanted to edit the video clippings on his cam coder and for this he tried to download those video clippings to his laptop. The system detected the cam coder but when he tried to download the videos and pictures from the cam coder, the graphics package brought out a window error and requested for a restart process. He contacted me for help to resolve the problem.

As an experienced user of Windows, I could use Regedit32 to fix the problem and to my surprise I discovered that there were multiple installations of a single driver. Not only that, most of the installations were incomplete also. Instead of resorting to manually edit the registry to clean the system of redundant entries, I decided to use a registry cleaner software.

I actually find the registry cleaner software an easy and simple process for the cleaning up of the computer. Before I hit upon the registry cleaner, I used to manually edit the registry which most of the times resulted in bad experiences. There have been times when I forgot to close some key entries in the registry which resulted in blue screen episodes. Also, there have been times when I had to restore or re-install the applications due to some negligence on my part. But since I started using the registry cleaner software, I did not have any bad experiences like that.

Though it was comparatively easy to do manual registry editing in the older versions of Windows, it is extremely difficult to do it in the newer versions like XP and Vista. As the Windows versions get updated with more features and OS modules, the registry will also become more complex and difficult to manage manually. So, for those who are used to edit the system manually with the Regedit32, it will be extremely difficult to do so in the newer versions of Windows.

Registry problems may occur due to many reasons like orphaned start up programs, corrupt or missing hardware drivers, incorrect removal of software programs or due to incorrect un- installations. All these problems will increase the size of the registry and will slow down the computer. This is so because when the size of the registry increases, Windows will require more time to make sense of the data from the registry.

Regcure is considered to be one of the most efficient registry cleaners available in the market. It will scan the computer for invalid entries and detects the obsolete entries and data. Once you fix the problems, the system will run faster and better. So, it is always better to have a registry cleaner installed on your computer.
